Free up your RAM on Windows

When you run many different programs at the same time, specially “big” programs, Windows gets slowly, like it was affected for the many programs we’ve used. This happens mainly because these “big” programs use up a lot of the RAM we have available, causing what’s known as “memory fragmentation”.

To solve this problem we can force the OS to free up the RAM, making it download the data in the RAM to the virtual memory or page file. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open Notepad.
  • Type this: mystring=(80000000)
  • Now save the file with any name, in any directory, but with the extension “.vbe”.
  • If you have 128MB or less RAM, type this instead: Mystring=(16000000).

From now on, everytime Windows slows down, just double click this small file to help Windows run faster.
