7 days ago it was confirmed at the Tech-Ed North America that the public beta of Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 will be accessible to users by the end of July. Microsoft also said they expect the final version of the SP1 to be complete later this year and added that it may be applied to Windows Server 2008 R2.

How to protect Windows 7 from 90% of its security problems

BeyondTrust has done a study on the Windows 7 weaknesses found by Microsoft during 2009. According to all the patches released, they have concluded that 90% of security problems could be avoided entirely if the user didn’t have administrator rights.
